What is PECO?
FAPA’s own Performing/Competitive Company
Ballet/Tap/Jazz Company: This company is for those students who are looking for more serious training in dance. Students must be dedicated and interested in all of these forms of dance. Students need to be 7yrs of age and have 2 consecutive years of dance training in ballet/tap/jazz. If they are accepted into company specific classes are mandatory to enhance their technique. Summer classes are mandatory and students will compete in all 3 techniques of dance. Competitions, workshops, performances and weekend rehearsals throughout the year are also part of the commitment. Various dance shoes, more expensive costumes and accessories are also needed. PECO is not only a time commitment but it is also a financial one as well.
Hip Hop Company: This company focuses on enhancing their dance skills in Hip Hop and only competes in a Hip Hop dance at competition. Specific dance classes are mandatory as are summer classes. Dance shoes, more expensive costume and accessories are also needed. Students must be 7 years of age and have 2 consecutive years of dance in either Jazz or Hip Hop.
ACRO Company: This company focuses on enhancing students skills in Acrobatics. Cartwheels, round offs, splits, aerials, and other various tricks are learned. Specific dance classes are mandatory as are summer classes. Students will compete in an Acro dance at competition. Dance shoes, more expensive costumes and accessories are also needed. **Note** This year we are looking to start a new younger group. Students must be 7 years of age and have a cartwheel and a split.
If your child is interested in more than one aspect of dance training and is striving to enhance their dance technique and performing abilities, this program is something to consider.
• PECO is a Company, not a Team! Students come together to study dance as a group; not to compete against each other. Students will learn good sportsmanship, poise, and confidence and must have a positive attitude. Parents are expected to observe and display the same behavior.
• Company is for students who are looking for more serious training. They must be dedicated and interested in all forms of dance for PECO.
• For PECO, students must have at least 2 consecutive years of dance experience within the past 2 years in Ballet, Tap and Jazz. If they are accepted into company, specific classes are mandatory to enhance their technique.
• Our company involves a minimum of 3 hours of designated technique classes weekly. Students must attend class every week, arrive on time, be dressed in proper PECO attire, hair up in a bun, with PECO dance shoes and observe the regulations required by a PECO student.
• Summer classes are mandatory (minimum of 10 weeks).
• Competitions, workshops, performances and weekend rehearsals throughout the year are part of the commitment.
• Various dance shoes, more expensive costumes and accessories are also needed.
• PECO is not only a personal commitment, but a financial one as well.
